Can a minor work?

If you are an adolescent, you can only be employed to do light work. An adolescent is a person who is over 15 years of age, but is not yet an adult. Are you that age? You can be hired if:

  • you have completed at least eight years of primary school;
  • you have a medical certificate stating that the type of work does not pose a threat to your health.

Adolescents are employed under certain conditions:

  • you can work no more than 8 hours a day (if you are not yet 16 years old – 6 hours a day), the maximum working time limit includes the time of study;
  • when you work more than 4.5 hours, you are entitled to a 30-minute break included in your working time;
  • You are entitled to 48 hours of uninterrupted rest each week, including Sunday.

Persons under 16 years of age (including children) may, with the consent of a parent or guardian, work as part of cultural, artistic, sports or advertising activities.

Career goal in the student’s CV

A professional summary (or professional goal) is placed at the top of your resume, it is a few sentences in which you indicate your experience, skills and professional goals. A learner’s CV will probably not include a description of experience, but you can convince the employer to your candidacy by highlighting important competencies, for example, soft skills, i.e. related to your character traits. At work, it is important that you are communicative, meticulous and well-organized, and this is what you learn in everyday life.

Resume for teenagers – is it worth entering a hobby?

It’s definitely a good idea to include a hobby on your student resume because it shows your interests and can be an indication to the employer that you have additional skills or qualities. Hobbies are also a way to stand out and add a personal touch to your resume, which is valuable with limited work experience.
