What does the simplest CV look like?

Current recruitment requirements are different from those to which employees were accustomed 10 or 20 years ago. Currently, a simple CV does not contain a complete, comprehensive description of the career and detailed educational path – if you create a CV in this way, you may not get any feedback from recruiters. Curriculum Vitae should fit on one, maximum two pages and highlight the most important information at the beginning. You can only write longer content if it is, for example, a scientific CV.

What does a simple CV template contain?

Simple CV – section template:

  • Personal and contact details (name, phone number and email address are sufficient);
  • the name of the job or profession (e.g., cook);
  • a summary, which should also include a professional goal;
  • professional experience, with a distinction of positions, periods of employment, scope of responsibilities and successes;
  • a list of specialist skills and soft skills (e.g. punctuality);
  • the last stage of education;
  • courses, training, certificates and authorizations;
  • consent to the processing of personal data.

It is worth noting that recruiters often look through even tens or hundreds of resumes a day, so they do not have time to search for interesting information among dense blocks of text. The employer wants to find out if you will be the right candidate for a specific position, so when writing a simple CV, focus only on important issues. Read the job offer carefully and write a CV based on it – first list those jobs and skills that relate to the advertisement.

A simple CV – a template that will interest the recruiter

HR employees who are already reading another similar resume may not be interested in your candidacy if you do not present it in an interesting way. How to write an effective but simple CV?

Write a professional summary

Even the simplest CV should include a professional summary, as it presents the most important information about the candidate’s qualifications. In a few sentences, describe your experience related to the industry in which you are applying, achievements and education, if relevant. You can diversify the whole thing with a description of your professional goal, i.e. answer the question why you would like to work in this particular company.

A simple CV focuses on specifics

You don’t have much space to describe your qualifications – therefore, instead of using generic statements, use figures and percentages that will prove the effectiveness of your work. Instead of “selling products and services,” you can mention successes, such as “Achieving the best sales result from the team in the first quarter of 2024.”

A simple CV – the template should be legible

The simplest CV template, which is a long block of text, will not encourage reading, so it is worth paying attention to the appropriate layout of the document. Use headings and bullets, keep proper spacing between sections. You can bold the most important information to make it easier to see. When you write your entire resume, be sure to check its correctness, because any mistakes will give a bad impression.

What contact details are included in simple CV templates?

Entering contact details in your CV seems simple: just provide your phone number and email address. However, many candidates make a significant mistake by including an unprofessional email address on their resume. The fact that entering the e-mail address “[email protected]” in the document is a faux pas is obvious, but when quickly sending applications for selected positions, it is easy to forget about it. As a result, you may lose the chance to work, so it is worth entering a simple e-mail address in your CV. A simple CV – a template of a professional e-mail address: “[email protected]”.

What photo to put in a CV?

A recruiter who receives a CV with an unprofessional photograph may reject it immediately, even if the listed competencies are matched to the job position. The photo for the CV should be appropriate, i.e. showing the candidate in formal attire on a neutral background. If you don’t have a proper, up-to-date photo, you don’t need to add it.

What must a simple CV template include?

All application documents must contain a valid CV clause, i.e. consent to the processing of personal data. If it is missing from your CV, the recruiter will not be able to consider your application.
